November 16th -- Louis Riel Day in Toronto
On November 16th the Métis Nation hold s commemorative ceremonies to honour Louis Riel and acknowledge his contributions to Canada and to the Métis people.

Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Foundation
The Foundation provides awards to deserving Aboriginal post-secondary students to complete their chosen field of study through provision of financial awards given each year to applicants selected by an independent panel. details

Métis Oral History Project
The MNO Cultural Commission's Oral History Project will record and protect the history, culture and traditions of the Métis in Ontario. Research will be undertaken by a team of three Métis youth who demonstrate strong research abilities and a passion for Métis history and culture. details

Miss G__ Project
The Miss G__ Project is an action group working to promote equity in education, combat sexism and homophobia and encourage active citizenship. Their current mission is to get women's studies into the Ontario secondary school curriculum. website


NAHO Youth Role Models
“Lead Your Way!”, the National Aboriginal Role Model Program, celebrates the accomplishments of First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth aged 13 to 30. The role models are recognized for their innovation, achievement, and leadership and were picked by their peers in Aboriginal communities. more info
