Name: Ginny Harmony Irene Marie Gonneau

I Have: paddled a total of 108 days, 4300 km, from Montreal, Quebec to Batoche, SK along the historic fur trade routes of our Metis ancestors.

Biggest Challenge: waking up at5am every day on the trip.

Few people have any idea: what it's like to paddle 60 km a day in canoe, regardless of weather, sickness or exhaustion. and I went on the first trip to begi with for my mom.

My Motivation: my family. I've been to: a pipe ceremony at Gabriel's Crossing in Saskatchewan & met Maria Campbell author of half-breed.

Best Moment: sitting around a camp fire with some Métis fishermen from Duck Bay eating pork chops & potatoes at their hunt camp on Lake Winnipegosis. Or, recieving an eagle feather from the Metis Nation.

Thanks to: all the Metis women who gave the other women paddlers and I strength & encouragement - we did it! I want to: paddle the rest of the way across Canada.

I believe: "It is only in adventure that some people suceed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves." - Andre Guide

I am Metis
