The Métis Nation of Ontario is governed and directed by 20 elected members of the Métis community across the province. The PCMNO is comprised of the nine regional councillors, four senators, women's rep, youth rep, post-secondary rep, and the executive.

The role of the PCMNO is to assist in the decision-making process and to determine priorities for the future. Members from across the province are heard in accordance with the bylaws of the MNO. The PCMNO offers a forum for debate and deliberation in order to ensure that the MNO will continue to grow as a unified nation of Métis people. The MNO is essentially an organization that receives its mandate from Métis citizens across the province.

The MNO has made an effort to build a healthy organizational structure that allows for feedback and input from every division. All areas are interconnected with the understanding that the MNO is intent on building a nation, and therefore all components are vital to the growth of the organization.
