Ontario has acknowledged “Métis Nation of Ontario
citizens”. For the first time in history, it acknowledges
MNO Citizenship Cards and MNO Harvester’s Certificates.
For the first time in history it formally commits to work
with MNO Captains of the Hunt....This is a major breakthrough
because finally, the Government of Ontario has made a decision
to move forward with the Métis Nation of Ontario. It
does not preclude Ontario negotiating with any other group,
but at least, whatever stands in the way of reaching agreement
with them can no longer prejudice the citizens of the Métis
Nation.” |
