The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is pleased to again offer internships in several branches, following the successes of our agreements this past year.  The interns who joined our workforce quickly became assets, confirming the value of investing in committed, talented graduates seeking the opportunity to start and accelerate their careers within the Métis community.    The MNO is committed to providing paid, one-year developmental opportunities to grow top talent while delivering important public services to the Métis people of Ontario. 

Métis individuals who have graduated or will graduate with a recognized degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma between May 2017 and June 2019 in the field of study relevant to the following positions may apply:

    • Law and Governance
    • Business and Financial Planning
    • Communications
    • Human Resources
    • Policy Development
    • Program and Service Delivery


Interns gain invaluable work experience as they explore the diversity of career opportunities available with the Métis Nation of Ontario.  

Through experience, relationships, and training, interns are supported by a wide network of peers, managers and mentors to guide and enrich professional growth.  Interns receive ongoing feedback, mentoring and coaching to grow and succeed.

Interns will have the opportunity connect with leaders at all levels, and collaborate with communities across the province.

How to Apply

Be an early applicant, application submissions are accepted until each position is filled.  A cover letter and resume are required.  Only one application per candidate is accepted.

Selection Process

Applications are reviewed and assessed relevant to each focus area.

The interview stage is an opportunity for MNO to get to know candidates better and provides candidates an opportunity to showcase their qualifications.


To support MNO in identifying a suitable placement, candidates who are invited to participate in the interview process are required to provide at the time of their interview:

  • a copy of their most current transcript
  • a copy of their resume, and
  • three references (indicate name, position, organization, telephone, email)

Onboarding Process

Placement Notification (April 19, 2019)
Successful candidates will be notified of their first work placement, manager and location.

Placements Begin (May 13, 2019)
Successful candidates may commence their internships as early as May 13, 2019.  An orientation session will follow.


Mandatory Qualifications:

  • To meet funding parameters, candidates must be Métis
  • Education in the field of study relevant to the Internship
  • Demonstrated ability to be confidential, responsible and reliable
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Outlook, Excel, Work and PowerPoint)
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, with travel to various locations  


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Métis culture, history and way of life
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills
  • Committed to working as a valuable and cooperative team member
  • Ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
  • Ability to effectively and courteously interact with the public
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule
