On June 17, 2017, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Peterborough and District Wapiti Métis Council (PDWMC) hosted Métis Heritage Day in Peterborough at two fantastic locations.

The morning consisted of activities at the Canadian Canoe Museum, where families had the opportunity to tour the museum and participate in hands-on activities including finger-weaving, beading, bannock making, paddle painting, fire-starting and more. The afternoon activities were held at the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre. These activities included fishing in the Shimano Pond and use of the archery and air gun range.

The purpose of the day was to bring families together to learn about their culture and heritage and to have a lot of fun!  The MNO PDWMC reports that there was an awesome turnout and that it was great to see old and new faces.
