On June 16, Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) staff organized a Métis Rendezvous for the Simcoe County District School Board. MNO Summer Youth Cultural Program facilitators based in Midland and MNO Health and Wellness staff planned a full day of activities, including making bannock, sampling smoked fish, jigging lessons and learning to weave.

Huron Park, Bayview and Mundy’s Bay public schools and James Keating and Victoria Harbour elementary schools participated in 12 activities centered around Métis culture.

Bayview Kindergarten teacher Charleen South shared her experience on Twitter.  “Had a wonderful time with students at Huron Park today at the Métis Rendezvous,” she tweeted to Huron Park’s principal.

The Métis Rendezvous was held at the Huron Park Public School library.
