MNO Mining Strategy offers new summer programs

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Mining Strategy is determined to offer exciting opportunities for MNO citizens and provides educational funding to assist Métis, First Nations and Inuit people interested in careers in the mining industry.

The following programs are being offered in several locations:

In addition to these summer programs, the MNO Mining Strategy is promoting the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group, who is offering an opportunity for Aboriginal women.

The Aboriginal Women in Mining program includes six weeks of Employment Life Skills training, which prepares candidates for job readiness, communication skills, problem solving, decision making and how to build resumés and portfolios.

An additional six weeks offers on-the-job training with industry partner Detour Gold, a northern Ontario mining company and the second largest gold producing mine in Canada.

The Aboriginal Women in Mining program accepts applications on an ongoing basis.  For additional information, view their pamphlet here.
