Are you a Métis Youth? Do you want to learn more about recording the Oral Histories of your community?
The Métis Nation of Ontario is looking for MNO Métis Youth (age 18-29) that have had involvement with their community and who are interested in collecting and preserving the Oral Histories of elders, traditional knowledge holders and storytellers from communities across Ontario.
Know History Inc. is hosting a two-day workshop in Ottawa in February 2018 that will introduce youth participants to the basics and best practices of Oral History interviewing. You will learn how to successfully prepare, conduct and process an Oral History interview – everything from question design to video production techniques – and understand the obligations and responsibilities associated with these kinds of interviews.
The workshop is free. Your travel costs (train or airfare, hotel, and meals) will be covered by the MNO.
Dates: Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, 2018
Registration deadline: February 1, 2018
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
For more information or to register, contact Connie Wren-Gunn, firstname.lastname@example.org or 613-700-8677.
