Technology Foundations for Employment in Energy

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) in partnership with Georgian College’s School of Engineering introduced the Technology Foundations for Employment in Energy Project in May 2010. The thirty-week program includes both an academic and workplace training component and will be offered through the Barrie campus of Georgian College.

Ready to Work

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Ready to Work project was delivered at three sites across Ontario- Ottawa, Midland and Sault Ste. Marie. The program provided a unique and specialized training to employment opportunity for those interested in a career in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. The project built on an industry focused essential skills model that has been used successfully in the past to generate employment opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality sector.

Aboriginal Apprenticeship Centre

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) proposed the development of the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) in Sault Ste. Marie with funding from Service Canada. The Center was established in 2009 and it is a unique partnership between Métis, Sault College, and First Nations. The purpose of the Center is to assist Métis and First Nation peoples in Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma District and Manitoulin Island areas become trained for, and placed in, apprenticeship programs.

Confederation College/MNO GED Program

The GED Prep program is being offered by Confederation College in partnership with the Métis Nation of Ontario. Sessions to commence on January 2011 and will be held at our Métis Nation of Ontario Thunder Bay office, 226 May Street South. This program is open to all qualifying applicants. The GED Preparation lays the foundations for academic success and attaining a grade 12 equivalent. Students will practice using critical thinking skills, and develop proficiency in the fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics. The GED program fosters the academic groundwork and self-confidence that will help ensure success for the GED exam.

Building Systems Technical Advisor Internship Program

The BSTAIP program is ending March 31, 2013, and is no longer accepting applicants.

The MNO Building Systems Technical Advisor Internship Program was designed to develop a workforce of highly skilled building inspection and energy conservation advisors that will be leaders in the current trends influencing housing.
