Ready to Work
The Ready to Work project was delivered at three sites across Ontario- Ottawa, Midland and Sault Ste. Marie. The program provided a unique and specialized training to employment opportunity for those interested in a career in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. The project built on an industry focused essential skills model that has been used successfully in the past to generate employment opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality sector.
This program included a 14-week training component (featuring e-merit Tourism Essentials (TOE), Canadian Workplace Essentials (CWE), Service Excellence, Smart Serve, National Food Safety Training Program (NFSTP), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for Tourism and Hospitality) followed by a four-month work placement component with an industry employer. This diverse mix of in class and on-the-job training helped participants gain the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a rewarding career in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. The program assisted employers seeking to expand their workforce with qualified applicants.
