Job Shadowing Program (JSP)
Objectives
- To provide participants with on the job employment experiences to assist them with career decision making.
- To provide on-the-job training to participant’s targeted career goals.
- To match participant career goals to specific employers.
Eligible Clients
- Métis clients whether unemployed, under-employed and/or clients whose employment is at risk due to labour market changes, insufficient employment skills or certification.
Eligible Delivery Agents
- MNO Community Councils wanting to develop capacity while enhancing employment opportunity, skills knowledge and partnership for Métis people
- For-profit organizations, including partnerships and sole proprietorships
- Self-employed persons
- Aboriginal organizations
- Government institutions
- Non-profit groups
- Partnerships are encouraged between delivery agents that may lead to increased employment opportunities for MNO clients.
Criteria
- Training must relate directly to employment goals and must meet the needs of both the client and the industry or labour market.
- Clients must access training through the MNO intake and assessment process.
- Sponsor/Employer must possess the appropriate qualifications and expertise to develop, implement and manage the project.
- Capital assets are not eligible expenses.
- Proof of third party liability coverage is mandatory.
- JSP clients shall not displace or replace existing employees or volunteers, employees on layoff; employees absent due to a labour management dispute, employees on vacation or interfere with a collective agreement.
- Staffing must be tied directly to the project and cannot replace permanent staff.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (Workers’ Compensation or equivalent) insurance coverage must be provided by the employer for participants in accordance with, and where required by provincial regulations.
Duration
- Projects will last for a minimum of 4 weeks up to a maximum of 16 weeks dependent upon skill level of the individual and skills required for the job.

The minimum workweek will be 25 hours per week and will not exceed 40 hours per week
