Emerald UnRuhEmerald UnRuh

Taanshi! My name is Emerald UnRuh, and I am a second year undergraduate student from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. I am currently studying International Development and Globalization with a minor in Public Administration at the University of Ottawa as a Loran Scholar. I love learning about both my, and other, Indigenous cultures, and I previously volunteered with the Golden Ears Métis Society in British Columbia, where I helped to connect Métis youth to their culture. I have also worked with the Māori Law Review in New Zealand where I contributed to a monthly review of how current and historic policy and legislation impact the lives of Māori (Indigenous New Zealanders). I also enjoy practicing my beadwork, trying a new jig step or two, and making my grandmother’s bannock during my free time. I am very excited to be a facilitator with the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Infinite Reach and I cannot wait to meet everyone and share our knowledge of Métis culture, identity and heritage! If I can help you in anyway, or if you would simply like to meet for a coffee, please reach out to me at: eunru030@uottawa.ca Marsi!

Taanshi! My name is Brittany Mathews and I am one of the Infinite Reach Facilitators at the University of Ottawa (uOttawa)! I grew up in the Bow Valley of Alberta on Métis and Treaty 7 territory. I am currently studying Conflict Studies and Human Rights at uOttawa. As a life-long learner, I am passionate about indigenizing and learning more about my Michif culture and Nation―something that I love to share! I love to bead and am always up for jigging, once I work up the courage! I also co-host the monthly Michif Hour on Aboriginal CKCU 93.1 in Ottawa where I am passionate about boosting the stories, culture and history of Michif folks across the homeland! If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact me! You can reach me at bmath055@uottawa.ca. Marsi!

Warren Cardinal-McTeagueWarren Cardinal-McTeague

Tansi, Hello, Bonjour! My name is Warren Cardinal-McTeague and I am one of the MNO Infinite Reach Facilitators at the University of Ottawa (uOttawa). I am in the sixth and final year of my PhD in Biology, where I am doing research on the evolutionary relationships of tropical vines. I am originally from the Fort McMurray/Lac La Biche area of Alberta and moved to Ottawa to continue my education. Through participating in MNO Infinite Reach, I found myself warmly welcomed to the Métis community in Ontario. I learned more about my culture, how to do beadwork, and met many of my closest friends. If you are new to the city or province, I strongly encourage you to come out to an event! I believe connection to your community and maintaining your cultural activities are essential for a balanced and successful post-secondary experience. If you want more information  about MNO Infinite Reach, you are invited to stop by the Aboriginal Resource Centre (1 Stewart St, Rm 130) for our weekly beading circle (co-offered by MNO Infinite Reach and the uOttawa Indigenous Student’s Association), to join our Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/uottawamétis/), or send me an email at wcard048@uottawa.ca

Brittany TremblayBrittany Tremblay

My name is Brittany, I am a first year student in the Doctor of Medicine Program here at the University of Ottawa. I did my undergraduate degree (BSc. Psychologie) here as well, and I loved the city so much I couldn't leave. I'm from Sudbury, Ontario, so I still have a special place in my heart for the North. I have many interests, my #1 being medicine. Other interests include Indigenous issues and race politics, mental health, queer issues, and intersectional feminism. I'm slowly learning how to integrate these issues into my practice as a future physician (hopefully, a physician with a specialisation in Indigenous Health). In my down time, I really like to bead, and I'm looking forward to our weekly beading circles. I also like to cook, and lift weights. I'm excited this year to be a part of a big pretty MNO Infinite Reach team and host events, make friends, learn together, and have fun together! If you'd like to reach out to me, my e-mail is btrem046@uottawa.ca.
