Taanshi! My name is Emerald UnRuh, and I am a second year undergraduate student from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. I am currently studying International Development and Globalization with a minor in Public Administration at the University of Ottawa as a Loran Scholar. I love learning about both my, and other, Indigenous cultures, and I previously volunteered with the Golden Ears Métis Society in British Columbia, where I helped to connect Métis youth to their culture. I have also worked with the Māori Law Review in New Zealand where I contributed to a monthly review of how current and historic policy and legislation impact the lives of Māori (Indigenous New Zealanders). I also enjoy practicing my beadwork, trying a new jig step or two, and making my grandmother’s bannock during my free time. I am very excited to be a facilitator with the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Infinite Reach and I cannot wait to meet everyone and share our knowledge of Métis culture, identity and heritage! If I can help you in anyway, or if you would simply like to meet for a coffee, please reach out to me at: Marsi!
