The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) offers a variety of education and training programs, bursaries and scholarships in partnership with post-secondary institutions and employers. These programs have assisted Métis people advance their education and careers through funding and work placements.
To highlight the success of some of the Métis who have taken advantage of the MNO’s offerings, the MNO has produced series of videos highlighting these individuals in such fields of trades, health care, aviation, tourism, post-secondary education and administration.

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Self Employment (MSE) program provides assistance to Métis individuals seeking to develop businesses that will allow them to be self-employed. Through this program, the MNO offers clients the skills and support necessary to develop a business plan, start a small business and sustain the activity. It assists clients with mentorship, ongoing technical advice, and financial support with coaching that is tailored to the individual’s needs.
Dr. Adrian Nasager, ND, is one MNO citizen who took advantage of MNO’s offering and is very glad he did. Through financial support provided by the MSE program, Dr. Nasager was able to successful start his own naturopathic medicine practice in Toronto, Ontario.
Dr. Nasager believes the MSE program is a necessary service in supporting people in starting their own business. “Before you can help other people, a lot of the time you need help yourself so having an organization that will help you gives you confidence,” he explained. “It helps you see the potential of what you can do and believe in your ability to execute that dream.”
The MNO Métis Mining Strategy is a program that provides funding to support the training of Aboriginal people for careers in the mining industry. The mining industry is growing in Ontario and the MNO Métis Mining Strategy is one of the ways that the MNO is helping insure that Métis people and other Aboriginal people have the opportunity to participate in this important sector.

Current Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Infinite Reach facilitators describe the MNO Infinite Reach: Métis Solidarity Network and share what it means to them.
The MNO Infinite Reach: Métis Solidarity Network is comprised of incoming and upper year post-secondary students who have the common goal of working together to enrich and enhance their post-secondary education experience.
Infinite Reach facilitators offer assistance to incoming Métis students by helping them adjust to university life and also work to create and maintain a sense of community among Métis students. Throughout the year, Infinite Reach facilitators host cultural and informative events to connect students to the local MNO community councils and various programs, services and events of the MNO.

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Navigating Employment Pathways (NEP) program is designed to provide industry specific training to Aboriginal people looking for a career in the tourism and hospitality sector. This fully funded training opportunity is offered twice a year and is comprised of two training components: in class training and a work placement.
In this video, past participant Jonathon Dean shares his experience in the program and how it assisted him in getting his job at the Best Western hotel in North Bay.
Current participant, Gerald Lavallee explains how the program provided a foot in the door of the competitive tourism and hospitality industry as the program provides a wide range of educational content, networking and hands on training.
Brothers Darryl and Jason Grenier from Midland were looking to further their training in the trades. After consulting with the MNO, the brothers received funding to further their education and training in HVAC and gas fitting. In this video, the brothers share their experience of working with the MNO and how the MNO’s support helped to start them off in the right direction.
Guylaine Morin-Cleroux is currently the Administrative Coordinator for the MNO's Education and Training branch, a position that she very much enjoys. Guylaine joined the MNO through the Métis Training Strategy program as a receptionist. In 2009 she came on board as a permanent employee and still is today and plans to be in the future.
