The bursary
program has been set up to assist those Métis students
who have a demonstrated financial need for assistance to complete
their program of study. Bursary amounts are based upon financial
need of the student and the availability of program funds.
Students can apply once per year under this program. Students
may apply for funding in subsequent years throughout the duration
of their program of study.
Eligibility
Criteria:
Evidence
of financial need
Must
be of Métis ancestry
Must
be Resident of Ontario for at least one year
Must
be enrolled into or accepted into (pending application)
an accredited health program
Or,
acceptance into the next year of full-time studies
Attendance
in school on a full-time basis
Please
include the following in your application package:
Completed
application form
Official
transcript of marks (successful completion from previous
year based on course requirements is required)
Proof
of acceptance to the educational institute of choice. (Where
acceptance has not yet occurred, awards will be contingent
upon receipt of proof)
Verification
of tuition and fees (from calendar, brochure or webpage)
If
applying for 2006-2007 year please include receipts for
expenses incurred
Two
letters of support – one from a Métis member
of your community and one from a personal reference indicating
your potential for success as a health professional
Letter
of Personal Introduction indicating:
your preparation and reason for your career choice
your career aspirations
views on the state of Métis health care
how Métis culture influences your day-to-day
life
and future professional relationship with the Métis
community
(maximum 2-3 pages).
Resume
or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Recent
Photo (head and shoulders) that can be used for advertising
or in promotional materials.
Scholarships
are awarded based upon academic merit (in addition to meeting
the assessment criteria listed below). They can range from
$500 to $3,000 (and may be available up to $5,000 for special
circumstances or demonstrated financial need) are available
to Métis students pursuing careers in health. Students
can apply once per year under this program. Students may apply
for funding in subsequent years throughout the duration of
their program of study. If you have financial need over and
above the maximum amounts allowed under this program you are
allowed to apply under the Busary Program as well.

Proof of acceptance in or pending application to an accredited
health program
Previous
GPA of 70% or prerequisite of course to obtain a certain
overall GPA to advance to next year of studies
Or,
acceptance into the next year of full-time studies
Attending school on a full-time basis
