NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

Northern Ontario Aboriginal Nurses Award through Aboriginal Nurses Association of Canada. $500 to provide financial assistance to a student of Aboriginal ancestry enrolled in a Registered Nursing program, whose goal upon graduation is to work and provide assistance to those people living in an Aboriginal community or a remote community in Northern Ontario. Deadline date December 15.

The Charlotte Carter Memorial Fund was established to encourage Canadians of Native ancestry to pursue a career in nursing and to encourage these students to return to and serve in Native communities in Ontario. One scholarship, valued at $1,000, will be awarded each year to a full-time student of Native descent (includes all status/non-status Indians, Inuit and Métis) who is attending a Nursing program at either a college or university in Ontario that is recognized by the Ontario College of Nursing. Eligible students may apply after successfully completing a minimum of one year of the Nursing program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent. The Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario (RNFOO)
Awards and Scholarships varying from $500-$5,000 for the following categories:
Research Awards; Continuing Education; Baccalaureate Leve; RNAO Interest Group - Continuing Education (Diabetes), Undergraduate (Childbirth Nurses), Graduate (Childbirth, Diabetes, Mental Health, Nurse Educators); All Education Levels

The Mosby-Saunders Award for Professional Nursing - $500 for best 500 word essay on “Why I chose to study the profession of nursing”. Deadline November 10.

Saint Elizabeth Health Care Scholarships for Community Nursing - $2,000 plus an all-expense paid trip to Toronto to spend a day at Saint Elizabeth Health Care. Deadline November 10.

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Nursing Poster Presentation Award - $500 and $500 in LWW products for poster submission at CNSA annual conference. Deadline November 10.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Scholarship for Post-RN Baccalaureate Students - $2,000 USD through demonstration of references and personal essay on “how has entering yoru post-RN degree changed your view on nursing as a whole or in your personal practice?”, Deadline November 10.

The Johnson and Johnson Medical Products Leadership Award for the student who is deemed to have made the greatest contribution to the advancement of the profession of nursing during his or her academic endeavours. $1,000. Deadline November 10. http://cnsa.ca/awards/jandj/
The Outpost – International Placement Award that recognizes students who seek a nursing experience in a different cultural setting. $500. Deadline November 10.

The Education and Research Award that recognizes a nursing students contribution towards education and research within their profession during this academic year. $500. Deadline November 10.

The Canadian Nurses Foundation
Baccalaureate $1,000-$3,000, Masters $3,000-$5,000, Doctoral $3,000-$6,000 scholarships. Deadline date is April 1, 2007. A fee of $35 is required to submit an application.

Toronto Rehab
For nursing students at U of Toronto either training at or employed by Toronto Rehab.
Pat Lyon Nursing Fellowship

Kirshenblatt Memorial Scholarships to provide encouragement, recognition and assistance to aspiring persons who are studying in the field of Gerontology.
$2,000 for study or research within programs related to the field of Gerontology.
$2,000 for study or research within programs related to Gerontological Nursing.
Open to students throughout Canada. Deadline date March 31.

Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association
Scholarships to provide support to outstanding Registered Nurses undertaking further education in a post-basic undergraduate nursing degree program or a graduate or post-graduate degree program relevant to career development, preferably in the field of gerentological nursing – includes NP programs that focus on the care of older adults. $500-$1,500. Deadline date for 2007 – to be announced.

Registered Nurses Association of Ontario
Advanced Clinical/Practice Fellowships is a nurse mentoring experience aimed at developing and promoting nursing knowledge and expertise and improving client care and outcomes in Ontario. All fellowship learning activities to occur between Apr 1/07 and Feb 29/08. Deadline date is January 30, 2007 at 3 p.m. Watch for this next year.

Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario
Nursing Education Initiative For RPN’s taking professional development courses and/or programs $1,500. Check online on the application form for deadlines. You must be registered with the RPNAO.

Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses
The Jessie Young Bursary Deadline date is April 1 of every year for students in programs with a component or focus on neuroscience

Neuroscience Certification Bursary for registered nurses who have worked in neurosciences and registered with CAAN for Deadline date if May 31 of every year
