Métis Nation of Ontario Housing Overview
The Métis Nation of Ontario Housing Branch operates out of and provides property management services for the Thunder Bay Métis Community Centre in Thunder Bay. A satellite office is located in Innisfil, Ontario (near Barrie).
In addition to providing fee for service programs in both official languages, the Branch boasts highly qualified technical experts, contract administration and maintenance professionals and in-house certified Information Technical (IT) representation. The Branch is well-respected for its history of professional and efficient financial management.
At the community level, the Housing Branch provides property management services to the Thunder Bay Métis Community Centre building in Thunder Bay. The cultural centre is the first building in the province to be purchased and owned by the MNO. A lot of hard work went into the acquisition and renovation of the property and it is now a multipurpose space utilized daily for business, cultural training and a banquet hall/community events centre.

Programs
Provides affordable rental accommodation in designated rural communities to low-income families currently living in unaffordable, substandard housing.
The MNO Building Systems Technical Advisor Internship Program is designed to develop a workforce of highly skilled building inspection and energy conservation advisors that will be leaders in the current trends influencing housing.
Assists eligible homeowners living in substandard housing with repairs or renovations to bring their dwellings up to a minimum level of health and safety.
Assists eligible homeowners in the repair, improvement, or modification of existing housing to improve accessibility to the dwelling for persons with disabilities.
Assists eligible homeowners or renters in rural areas in making emergency repairs to ensure their dwelling is safe for occupancy. A percentage of the ERP contributions are earmarked for eligible Aboriginal Households.
To assist low-income seniors over the age of 65 who are in need of adaptations to live in their home independently.
To assist eligible homeowners living in the Thunder Bay and Kenora Districts who own and/or live in substandard housing in repairing and rehabilitating their homes, bringing them to a minimum level of health and safety and extending the life of the home another 20 years assuming normal care and maintenance.
