The
Rural and Native Housing
(RNH)
The Métis Nation of Ontario has
a Property Management Agreement with the Ontario Aboriginal
Housing Support Services Corp. (OAHSSC) to provide services
for the Rural and Native Housing Program (RNH) under
the auspices of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and
Housing (MMAH). This agreement was originally signed
with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
in 1996, later devolved to MMAH in 2000 and subsequently
transferred to OAHSSC in 2006.
Under this agreement the MNO manages a
portfolio of approximately 600 rental & homeowner
units in smaller, rural communities in Northwestern
Ontario, referred to as the Thunder Bay Portfolio and
Southeastern Ontario known as the North Bay Portfolio.
The RNH program is designed to provide
affordable housing for rental & homeowner clients
through rent-geared-to income rent and mortgage subsidies.
MNO provides a full range of property
management services to the portfolio of rental properties
including:
- Building inspection
- Repair, maintenance and capital planning
- Purchasing and tendering
- Contract Administration
- Tenant placement, counselling
and tenant relations.
