February 27, 2006 (Southampton, ON) -- Today, the Saguingue Métis Council, a chartered community council of the Métis Nation of Ontario, launched its publication entitled: Historic Saugeen & Its Métis People at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.
This publication which was edited by Patsy Lou Wilson McArthur is a collection of articles and photos which includes History of fur trading at Saugeen and in Lake Huron; Métis Family History, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Canada's Constitution of 1982; The Saugeen Territory - Early Explorers & Others To the Mid-19th Century; Families of Historic Saugeen; and Families of Historic Owen Sound and Big Bay. Contributors include Métis descendants of the Saugeen Territory's fur trade families – Dr. David T. McNab, Jim, McLay, Pat McArthur, and others about the Great Lakes.
