for Aboriginal artists in artistic disciplines to
participate in the 2010 Olympicr Games
July, 2008
-- Press Release
The Vancouver Organizing
Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games (VANOC) and the Four Host First Nations
(Lil’wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh
Nations) are working together to host an outstanding
2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the traditional
and shared traditional territories of the Four
Host First Nations, with an unprecedented level
of Aboriginal (First Nations, Métis and
Inuit) participation, a first for the Olympic
Games!
There are many opportunities
for Aboriginal (First Nations, Inuit and Metis)
artists in artistic disciplines to participate
in the 2010 Olympic and Paralymic Winter Games,
through the Cultural Olympiad, Torch Relay and
Ceremonies and Four Host First Nations programs.
To help accomplish this, an inventory of Aboriginal
Artists is being developed in the following disciplines:
- Performing Arts (music, theatre, dance, comedy)
- Literary Arts
- Storytelling
- New Media and Digital Arts
- Street Arts
- Culinary Arts
We recognize your talents as
an accomplished artist, and we would like to encourage
you to be part of this important Aboriginal Artists
Inventory for the 2010 Olympics and Paralympic
Winter Games. If you are interested in being part
of this first ever inventory for any Olympic games,
can you please complete the attached Artists Registration
Form (which ever format works best for you), and
also please send one copy of your CD, DVD, biography,
discography, press reviews to:
