I
am 20 years old and live in Mississauga just outside of Toronto.
I have just recently graduated from Sheridan College in the
Applied Photography Program. I am currently starting my first
year in the Bachelor of Applied Illustration Program at Sheridan
College and hope to become a Digital Illustrator. My future
plans are to incorporate my photography with illustrated art,
to collage into an inspirational vision. I was raised in Mississauga
by my parents and two brothers. I am a very passionate person
for my art and am constantly interested in being educated,
and being involved with my heritage.
It
is not very often that people get the chance to take an adventure
of a lifetime. Not only experiencing, but having it as an
internship, and learning about heritage is something that
one can not turn down. I personally desire this challenge
because it will be a huge accomplishment to conquer this journey.
It is a good opportunity to learn how to work with a group
and have a great physical workout. It is very important for
me to personally take advantage of every opportunity I get
to learn and be involved with my culture. It is a great honor
for me to be involved with this expedition because I feel
I am developing myself.
It
is just the past few years that I have followed my grandmother's
passion and involvement with the Metis Nation. I feel a deep
and personal connection to this part of me and have been trying
my best to be as involved as I can while being a student.
I have attended two of the Annual General Assembly's with
the MNO. I have also incorporated my photography and had a
few pictures published in the Metis Voyager News Paper. This
Expedition I hope will be a new beginning to my tie to the
Metis Community.
