I
was born in Duncan B.C. but raised in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.
I have just received a diploma from Sault College in the Social
Service Worker program. This September I plan to get my B.A.
Degree Majoring in Sociology and minoring in Geography at
Algoma University.
I
was motivated to participate in this expedition for many reasons.
First of all I know it will be a tremendous learning experience,
of history and culture of the Metis Nation. Second of all
I want to represent myself, my community and my Nation as
strong cultured people and to create awareness of our proud
heritage. I am really eager to get to our destination of Batoche
to learn more about the history.
I
am currently on the Sault Ste. Marie Interim council as a
youth representative. I also just finished my 8 month practicum
at the Sault Historic Centre working alongside many wonderful
people. I try to attend as many conferences and educational
forums as I can so I will continue learning, advocating, educating
and supporting the Metis Nation.
I
believe in order to maintain a strong happiness in life you
must understand who you are and be self aware, otherwise you
would be wandering around this world without direction. I
also believe you will never be entirely happy if you are judgmental
and cast stones at everyone.
