Starting Salary: $52,220 – $59,520, per year based on experience. Salary Range Max $67,900 [2023 Rates]

The Role
The One MNO Navigator’s primary role is to respond to incoming calls and emails of the Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) with the purpose of connecting citizens, clients and families to the most appropriate services within the MNO. Ultimately, this position will aid in the connecting of citizens, clients and families to the appropriate MNO Services and supports that are client/ family centered, holistic in nature, focused in prevention, promotion and early intervention and firmly rooted in the Metis traditions and cultural values within their respective communities.

In carrying out the following duties, it is expected that the One MNO Navigator will:
- Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose (SPP) to all MNO’s work, and to the requirements of the position specifically
- Adhere to MNO Policies and Procedures and MNO’s Financial Policies and Procedures at all times
- Uphold MNO’s Standards of Professional Conduct at all times.
- Answering client inquiries both over the phone and by emails.
- Complete referrals to appropriate MNO Programs and/or Services with detailed information, allowing the client to be supported.
- Liaise MNO services and supports on cases.
- Actively and independently keep up-to-date on MNO programs and services available across the Province
- When directed, represent the MNO at community events
- Develop new collaborations and partnerships as directed
- Implement annual project work plans and activity reports
- Keep up-to-date records in OHATS
- Provide bi-weekly reports to the Supervisor of Community Wellbeing
- Complete referral to the appropriate program and services
- Enter new or revised client information into MNO’s client records management system OHATS
- Assist clients identifying needs by way of brief needs assessment.
- Ability to formulate a client care plan to address those identified needs and work with MNO programming and services to ensure those needs are met;
- Strong knowledge of internal and external programs and resources that will facilitate appropriate referrals to address the identified client needs.
Qualifications
- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture.
- Experience and knowledge of Indigenous issues, specifically as it relates to Métis peoples is an asset
- Bilingual an asset.
- Proficiency with computer programs (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Zoom, Adobe) and other computer applications
- Successful completion and maintenance of a Police Security Check for Vulnerable Persons
- Willingness and ability to travel, at times extended stays in location other than place of residence
- Strong working knowledge of MNO programs and services;
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
- knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- good data entry and typing skills
- Must be able to work collaboratively as a team and communicate via phone and videoconference as well as in person;
- Strong communication skills and ability to handle difficult conversations.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrate assertiveness, self-starter and being self-motivated;
- Knowledge of the Métis Nation of Ontario governance, programs and services;
- Effective communication and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deliverables within deadlines;
- Successful completion and maintenance of a Police Security Check for Vulnerable Persons;
- Ability to work extended hours or on weekends as required;
- Willingness and ability to travel, at times extended stays in location other than place of residence.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the Métis Nation of Ontario and programs and services offered

- Flexible work schedule with ability to work extended hours as necessary

In 1993, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) was established through the will of Métis people and Métis communities coming together throughout Ontario to create a Métis-specific governance structure and vision, encapsulated in the Statement of Prime Purpose. Today, the Métis Nation of Ontario represents over 25,000 Métis citizens.
