Starting Salary: $58,500 – $70,750, per year based on experience. Salary Range Max $76,060 [2022 Rates]

The Role

The Capital Projects Advisor will report to the Manager of Capital Projects and will be responsible for coordinating activities for new acquisition and development projects. This may include housing and infrastructure projects. The Capital Projects Advisor will also be responsible for supporting large capital renovations for MNO and/or Community Councils spaces where applicable.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating, managing and coordinating acquisitions/development project timelines
  • Developing project plans, including tracking acquisition/development performance and analyzing deliverables against requirements and ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Preparing meeting munities and identifying actions required
  • Maintain a document repository of all documents as it relates to new acquisition and development
  • Assist in ensuring that all budgetary objectives are met, recommending adjustments as needed
  • Coordinate meetings and site visits with internal staff and external consultants
  • Review consultant reports (ESA, BCA, blue prints, etc.) and provide recommendation on next steps where appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and recommendations


  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Real Estate, Project Management, Finance) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Membership in an accredited association related to the profession (e.g. property management certificate)
  • A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, including but not limited to, regulations, construction methods, timelines, etc.
  • Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced research, analytical and time management skills
  • Strong project coordination, including the design and implementation of project work plans for projects that are strategic and/or long-term
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and assess changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to assess situations and problem-solve independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a senior management audience


  • Previous 3-5 years or more experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to write high quality evidence and data-based reports and professional presentations
  • Demonstrated ability in policy and program development and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment
  • Experience in developing and monitoring capital project budgets
