The Temiskaming Métis Community Council (TMCC) is a charter member of the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) and is an important communication hub for the MNO in the district. In 2001 the TMCC opened an office in Haileybury. They offer a range of services to their members which includes addressing health, social, and economic development. As of July 2004, the province officially recognized the Temiskaming Métis as historic Métis community, recognizing their right to harvest on the land.

The mission of the Temiskaming Métis Community Council is to promote Métis cultural traditions and to allow the Métis Community to unite in the common interests of the enrichment of the body, heart, mind, and spirit.
