Library Grand Opening
The Thames Bluewater Métis Council is proud to announce the Grand Opening of the Thames Bluewater Métis Library. The Council has established a library to promote Métis and Indigenous literature and knowledge within our community. The Library has a mandate to educate non-Indigenous people on Métis identity as well as provide an accessible way for the Métis community to learn about their own arts, history, traditions and so much more.
The Grand Opening will be held on Saturday, August 22nd from 6 pm to 8 pm in the parking lot of the Métis Nation of Ontario’s London Office. The office is located at Unit 19, 1100 Dearness Dr., which is just behind the White Oaks Best Buy. All Covid precautions will be adhered to during this event, including physical distancing.
Come out and take a look at the collection that our library volunteer and Youth Representative, Kaitlyn Anderson-Mitchell, has compiled to date. You will have the opportunity to sign up for a library card and check out books. Library cards are free for all MNO citizens, students and educators, with proper identification (citizenship card, student card, staff card). All other memberships are available for a fee of $20.00 for a two year library card. All fees will be put back into the library to obtain additional books and supplies.
Snacks and drinks will be provided. There is a large grassed area with a gazebo in the parking lot area so bring the kids. We look forward to seeing everyone there for this very exciting addition to our Council services!
