Since 2006 Sharon has held the Portfolio for Women, and has been Spokesperson for The Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council. where her focus has been on securing funding to carry out the important advocacy and public awareness of the Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council. In 2016 Sharon was able to secure three years of funding from the Status of Women from the Government of Canada. This was the first time, in history, that a Métis Women’s project was funded. In 2019 the Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council won the Ontario Heritage Trust Award for the Leadership Gathering that was held April 2019. Sharon was honoured with being the first recipient of the Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council Award for outstanding contributions for Métis Women in Ontario.

Over the years she has been involved in numerous projects and committees, ensuring the voice of the Métis Nation is heard throughout the province. Sharon is very proud that all our hard work, throughout the years, has paid off with the signing of our Self Government Agreement with the Government of Canada. Our ancestors would be very proud of us today with everything we have achieved.
