Candidate for MNO Youth Council Region 2 Youth Representative

Madyson Campbell, Candidate for MNO Youth Council Region 2 Youth Representative

My name is Madyson Campbell and I am the current Region 2 Representative on the Métis Nation of Ontario Youth Council. I am currently seeking your support in my re-election of this position. I was born and raised in Thunder Bay and my Métis roots are in the historic Red River settlement. I am a first year medical student at NOSM University.

I became the Region 2 Representative in 2020 and have been involved in many initiatives during my time on council. During this time, I have been afforded countless incredible opportunities to represent youth within Region 2 at the provincial and national level. One of the highlights includes organizing and co-hosting an ongoing monthly tea series with President Margaret Froh since 2021, where we create a safe space for Métis youth to gather and discuss relevant topics. It has been an absolute privilege to connect with and learn from youth and featured guest speakers from across the homeland for the past 3 years. Additionally, I was elected to the 2022 AGA Resolutions Committee, where I participated in reviewing resolutions before they reached the assembly floor. I have also served as a representative for Métis youth at many meetings and conferences across the country in order to ensure our voices and perspectives are heard by our leaders, including the 2022 Metis National Health and Climate Change Forum, 2022 Metis Youth British Columbia Parliamentary Forum, 2023 Métis Nation of Ontario United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Forum, and more.

In terms of my goals as part of the MNOYC, I am incredibly passionate about engaging youth in our Métis government and making sure that our voices are heard. If re-elected, I hope to continue advocating for opportunities for youth in Region 2 to advance our health and well-being, connect with our culture, and participate in self-government.

I would be incredibly honoured to continue serving youth in Region 2.
