Re-living the traditions of the Métis Voyageurs, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) kicked off its 18th Annual General Assembly (AGA) with an opening ceremony the morning of August 20. The ceremony featured voyageur canoes traveling the waterway adjacent to Bobby Orr Community Centre in Parry Sound. This was followed by a colourful parade featuring Métis veterans, senators, leaders and special guests.
Over 300 Métis citizens are attending the AGA from Métis communities all over the province. The AGA runs from August 20 to August 22 with highlights including discussions on Métis rights and Métis economic development. Look for a full story on the AGA posted here on August 22nd.
