Call for applications for Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund
The Ministry of Environment has launched the second round of the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund, which is offering grants totaling $1.5 million to support community projects that help protect and restore the ecological health of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Basin. Application deadline is Friday, April 26, 2013 at 5pm EDT.
Eligibility
Funds are available for projects In Ontario’s Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Basin. This includes:
- Lake Erie
- Lake Huron
- Lake Ontario
- Lake Superior
- St. Lawrence River
- Ottawa River
- The connecting channels and watersheds of the above bodies of water
Projects must contribute to at least one of the following goals:
- Protecting water quality for human and ecological health
- Improving wetlands, beaches and coastal areas
- Protecting habitats and species
