Designed to strengthen and share Métis culture and history, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Summer Youth Cultural Program (SYCP) is a community based initiative comprised of students that deliver Métis culture and history programs to community groups throughout the summer. This summer’s project focuses on creating greater awareness of the contributions of Métis in the War of 1812 by making appearances during the Tall Ships 1812 tour.

From July 19-21, the students showcased Métis culture and history during the Tall Ships 1812 stop in Sault Ste. Marie. The group, dressed up in traditional Métis attire, displayed Métis traditional dance, decorative arts and games for the public.

The group will also be making appearances in Fort Erie from Aug. 9-11 and in Wasaga from Aug. 16-18.
