The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) team is happy to announce the continuation of the Métis Early Learning Family Virtual Programming. These online events are delivered in three different age ranges:

  • Lil’ Socials being geared towards children ages zero (0) to four (4) and their families
  • Family Socials being geared towards children ages zero (0) to twelve (12) and their families
  • Virtual sessions being geared towards children ages four (4) to twelve (12). Each event will focus on a different theme as the children participate in hands-on, play-based cultural activities in a safe virtual environment.

There will be four (4) Socials that will run throughout the year on a Saturdays, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (EST).

2024-2025 Family Programming Schedule:

Lil’ Socials (Ages zero (0) to four (4))

  • Lil’ Sprouts Social – May 4, 2024
    Registration Period: March 18 – March 22, 2024
  • Lil’ Scoops Social – July 13, 2024
    Registration Period: June 3 – June 7, 2024

Family Socials (Ages zero (0) to twelve (12)

  • Monster Mash- October 26, 2024
    Registration Period: September 16-September 20, 2024
  • An Olde Time Christmas – December 14, 2024
    Registration Period: November 4 – November 8, 2024

Eligibility Criteria: 

The social events will be available for children/families who meet the following criteria:

  • One parent/legal guardian or child must be a Métis Nation of Ontario Citizen and must reside in Ontario
  • Have at least one child between the ages of:
    • 0-4 years and one parent/legal guardian present during the workshop/
    • 0-12 years and one parent/legal guardian present during the workshop
  • Ability to access the internet and have a device to connect to Zoom
  • Interested in learning about Métis history and culture from an Early Learning perspective
  • Willing to participate in a digital environment
  • Parent(s) must complete a free 30-minute certificate class on Sexual Abuse Prevention
  • Parent(s) must read and sign off on the ELCC Code of Conduct and Child Protection policies Selected families will receive one kit per family, and have any required materials for all camp sessions supplied to them. The MNO ELCC program will pay for any additional items needed.

Other Considerations:

  • The application must be completed by the child’s parent or legal guardian
    • Acceptance priority will be given to those who have not previously attended/participated in any ELCC camps
    • Those who are not initially registered will be added to a waitlist for potential openings before the start date
    • If you are accepted but then unable to attend the social, we require at least five days’ notice to allow the opportunity for another family to participate

Selected families will have any required materials for the Social supplied to them. The MNO ELCC program will pay for any other materials needed. When you register, you will be provided with the amount covered and the payment method.

  • Ready, Set, Bloom! (Ages four (4) to twelve (12))
    May 9, 16, 23, 30
    Registration Period: April 2 – April 9, 2024
  • Winter Virtual Camp (Ages four (4) to twelve (12))
    November 14, 21, 28
    Registration Period: October 7 – October 11, 2024
