On March 25th, 2015, Timmins Local Immigration Partnership held its first Annual Evening of Applause at the Timmins High & Vocational School. The event is in partnership with the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination for Racial Discrimination, and is a closing of a three-month initiative that involved raising awareness and promoting tolerance. There were three award categories, which included: Students who Make a Difference, Best Anti-Racism/Tolerance Poster, and the inaugural Inductions of Human Rights Wall of Fame.
Amongst the award recipients was Brianne Gosselin, who was given the Aboriginal Student Who Makes a Difference Award, for being an outstanding role model and exhibiting qualities of good citizenship.
