On May 23, during this year’s Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, Corporal Keith Hendricks, a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario, and Constable Andrew Parr ran the entire 10-kilometre race in full uniform in just over an hour. In the process, Corporal Hendricks was able to raise $1,067.33 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.

Both officers are part of the Prime Minister’s Protection Detail (PMPD).

The mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, develop positive relationships and build confidence and skills of life.

The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is Canada’s largest race weekend with 49,439 participants this year. Participants running for charitable causes raised $800,000 and counting – a significant increase over $625,000 in 2014.
