On March 25, 2017, Self-Identified Métis Steven Litt was presented with the Bruce Power – Owen Sound Attack Aboriginal Youth Sports Bursary Award. The award is available to Aboriginal youth who show outstanding abilities in one or more sports-related activities, have maintained average or above-average school grades and have contributed to their community through volunteer work with other youth, elders or the community at large. Steven was one of four recipients of the $750 bursary award.
Steven is in grade 12 and plans to attend university in the fall to study Electrical Engineering. Métis Nation of Ontario Education and Training staff in Owen Sound have been supporting Steven with his educational and employment goals and nominated him for the award.
“I’m so thankful for the guidance and support I’ve received from the MNO. They are helping me in achieving my goal of becoming an Electrical Engineer.” said Steven.
