On June 13, The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Peterborough and District Wapiti Métis Council (MNO PDWMC) participated in the Dragon Boat Festival on beautiful Little Lake in the heart of downtown Peterborough.
The purpose of this festival was to raise money to help support the services needed for the Peterborough and Regional Health Center’s Breast Assessment Center.
This goal for this year’s festival was to raise $215,000 to purchase new imaging equipment. The MNO PDWMC race team raised over $1500, with a goal of raising even more next year.
Since paddling on the water is found deep in Métis roots, the MNO PDWMC felt this was a fantastic way to help such a great cause in their community. The race team consisted of MNO citizens and friends of the community.
The team participated in two races, placing first in their first race, and third in their second race.
