Temporary program winds down as pandemic stabilizes and alternatives are available

MNO’s Mental Wellness Line is scheduled to end after June 30, 2024. We want you to know there are still other resources available.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the MNO set up a special phone line to help people with their mental health. We are grateful we were able to provide this additional support to our community members during a difficult time.

Closing our line was a difficult decision. With the introduction of the national 9-8-8 Suicide Prevention Line and many other existing resources like Hope For Wellness available, we found there was a significant overlap in available programs. We want to make sure the resources we have are effectively used to address the gaps our citizens face when it comes to mental health services.

The line will continue to operate until June 30, 2024.

But don’t worry, there are other phone lines that you can call for help if you are in crisis:

  • Canada’s suicide prevention line (Dial 988)
  • Hope for Wellness – an Indigenous resource (1-855-242-3310).

MNO also will still provide Mental Wellness supports for our citizens. We offer culturally appropriate and ongoing mental health supports. To find out more, click here or email MHA@metisnation.org.
