MNO Métis Child, Youth and Family Services Project
Community Information Sessions: June 2021

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Child, Youth & Family Services Project Team hosted virtual engagement sessions for Citizens in Regions 2-9 in February and March 2021.

The purpose of these sessions was for Citizens to inform the creation of a Vision of wellbeing for Métis children, youth, families and communities across Ontario. They were asked to consider the challenges their communities face as they interact with the current child welfare system. In addition, participants were asked about the types of supports that could prevent negative outcomes for Métis children, youth and families as related to child welfare. They were asked to engage with the questions with the aim of informing a new, or reimagined system, to meet their unique needs.

The MNO will be hosting Community Information Sessions to provide a Project Summary and Update to citizens on the MNO’s Métis Child, Youth and Family Services Project. The purpose of these sessions is to:

      1. Provide a summary of what we heard at the February and March, 2021 “Visioning” sessions;
      2. Provide a summary of the Project and key activities completed to date; and,
      3. Provide an update regarding next steps and upcoming events related to the project.

These sessions will be held online via Zoom from June 23-25, 2021. There will be afternoon and evening options to choose from. Each session contains the same information so please only register for one session. The sessions are open to all MNO Citizens in Regions 2-9 (those that attended the February/March sessions as well as those who were unable to attend and want to be updated).
