Edmonton, AB – The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) remains fully committed to its relationships and to the Métis National Council (MNC).

“We are always strongest when we work together,” shared MNO President Margaret Froh. “We remain fully committed to working together with our sister Métis Nation governments to advance the interests of every Métis child, family, and community.”

During the advisory meeting on October 31, 2024, the MNC received strong endorsement of its policy agenda and continued MNC governance reform that will further solidify the MNC as a transparent, accountable, and ethical organization, and the national and international voice of the Métis Nation within Canada.

President Froh shared important updates on the continued work and accomplishments of the MNO. This included the forthcoming establishment of the Powley Institute, the opening of the Sault Ste. Marie Métis Heritage Centre, and ongoing implementation of the MNO’s “Telling Our Stories” Resolution, that includes the Ontario Métis Facts platform.

The MNO concluded the meeting by sharing its submissions to the MNC Expert Panel with attending delegates and recommitted to continued dialogue that further illuminates and weaves our many beautiful stories together throughout the Métis Nation Homeland.

“The MNO remains fully committed to sharing our stories. We remain fully committed to our relationships and to respectful dialogue. And we remain fully committed to the Métis National Council and its principled reform, so that all Métis Nation citizens can be served and supported to the best of our collective abilities,” added President Froh.
