Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizen Austin Press had a very fulfilling and informative summer thanks to the MNO’s Summer Career Placement program. Austin just finished his work term as a Tourist Information Attendant with the Town of Penetanguishene Tourism Information Centre. In an email sent to Rachelle Brunelle-McColl, MNO Employment Developer, Austin expressed his gratitude to the MNO in helping him obtain this position:
“Working for the town of Penetanguishene’s Tourism Office has provided me with the opportunity to learn more about the town I live in. It has allowed me the means to learn about my culture as a [citizen] of the Métis Nation, through local historical sites. Due to my position, I have become extensively familiar with my local water ways also; helpful not just in my professional but personal life as well.
“I am truly grateful for the opening that I was given working here for the summer and for the help provided by the Métis Nation of Ontario, without which I wouldn’t have had such an amazing opportunity. Thank you very much.”
