Two volunteers from the Métis Nation of Ontario Veteran’s Council (MNOVC) and the Windsor-Essex-Kent Métis Community Council (WEKMCC) are doing their part to help citizen’s bunkered down at home during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
MNOVC chair Shelly Claus and WEKMCC Women’s Representative Sharlene Lance have been making their way around the region delivering goods to citizen’s in need.
“I just wanted to take the time to thank the Veterans Council, and Veterans Shelly and Sharlene for doing the deliveries of care packages to citizens within this area,” said the WEKMCC President Donna Grayer.
The fact that their previous training plus their volunteer experience within the MNO, made them the ideal help, as they already understand process, and privacy.
According to the WEKMCC, all safety protocols were in place, with social distancing and masks in order for those that are vulnerable would know their safety protocols were paramount during these interactions.
The MNO is also asking any citizens who wish to volunteer to reach out to their local community councils for direction.
