MNO Youth Council invites Métis youth to have their voice heard on long-term management of used nuclear fuel
The long-term management of used nuclear fuel in Canada spans decades, making youth engagement vital.
Canada’s plan for the long-term management of used nuclear fuel will be implemented over many years. Given the long-time frames associated with carrying out Canada’s plan, ensuring Métis youth are engaged represents an important aspect of this work. Since 2005, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) and the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) have worked together in partnership to engage communities and exchange knowledge. MNO leadership agree that Métis youth should be involved and informed. Therefore, the MNO Youth Council is inviting youth to meet with the NWMO, to learn more about Canada’s Plan for the storage of its used nuclear fuel and to foster dialogue between the MNOYC and NWMO.
