Implications of Daniels v. Canada on Métis Rights discussed
NationTalk recently interviewed Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) President Gary Lipinski on the implications of Daniels v. Canada. In January, the Federal Court of Canada recently ruled that Daniels v. Canada establishes that Métis fall under federal jurisdiction and meet the definition of “Indian,” outlined in the Canadian Constitution. The federal government recently appealed the decision but it is still important that Métis and others understand the case.
