A social gathering for MNO Senior Citizens (age 55+) every Monday on Zoom
The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Healing and Wellness branch is hosting Rasawmb no Viyeu: Gathering of Our Wise Ones, a platform for community, support, activities, and cultural connection for MNO Seniors (55+).
The sessions will focus on creating a welcoming space for our senior citizens to engage with each other. Particularly, during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are not only missing out on cultural events that would bring opportunities for connection and sharing, but we are experiencing limited connection with our own families and friends.
If you have stories, skills, wisdom, writings, topics for discussion/learning, recipes, or ideas that you would like to share (or would like us to share for you) please let us know. We will work with you to make it happen at your comfort level. If you are not comfortable providing a session activity/topic, you are welcome to join and just enjoy the planned presentation and discussion sessions as a participant.
Weekly sessions are held Mondays alternating between
afternoons (2:00 – 3:30 PM ET) and evenings (5:30 – 7:00 PM ET)
Please email NicoleF@metisnation.org
for information or to register and added to the email list.
An email will be sent out on the day of the session with the topic of day and will include a Zoom link for easy access. Each presentation or activity will be 30 minutes to 1 hour in length, followed by an hour open-discussion.
We hope to compile an archive of topics/projects, such as recipes and story-sharing, in order to share them with other Métis who are not seniors, or who are unable to join these sessions.
