Message from MNO’s Chief Electoral Officer regarding the election of the Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council, and information regarding the Women’s Council Annual General Meeting
All Women citizens* of the Métis Nation of Ontario 16 years of age an older are entitled to vote in the election of the Métis Nation of Ontario Women’s Council (MNOWC).
Woman citizens will be able to vote for their candidate of choice for President of the MNOWC, and where there is a contest, will also be able to vote for a Regional Council Representative in the Region in which they reside.
This election, every voter has two options for voting: online or by telephone.
It will be possible to vote on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
For this election the Métis Nation of Ontario has contracted trusted Indigenous election services company OneFeather to host our election, the same organization that supported MNO’s 2020 PCMNO elections.
Electronic Voting
For those women citizens who did not vote online in the PCMNO 2020 election, electronic voting is a two-step process: activating your profile and casting your vote.
If you voted electronically using OneFeather previously – that is to say if you voted online in the 2020 PCMNO election – you DO NOT need to activate your profile again. On voting day, November 8, OneFeather will send you the link to vote and your personal PIN number via your email address.
To vote electronically using OneFeather for the first time, please visit the website below and click the red button to “Activate Profile”. You will require your MNO citizenship number, date of birth and personal email address to complete this process. We recommend that you activate your profile in advance of voting day. On voting day, November 8, OneFeather will send you the link to vote and your personal PIN number via your email address.

Telephone Voting
To activate your profile to be able to vote by telephone, please call the phone number below. You will require your MNO citizenship number and date of birth to complete this process.

* As per their Terms of Reference, the MNOWC has an inclusive understanding of womanhood, including Transgender women and Inter-Sex women. Any citizen who may be concerned that their gender could be incorrectly identified in MNO’s Registry is encouraged to contact Registry staff, at 1-855-798-1006, who are happy to update membership profiles in advance of voting day.

MNOWC Annual General Meeting:
While attendance is not necessary to be able to vote, all women citizens of the MNO are invited to attend the MNOWC’s virtual Annual General Meeting starting at 9:00 A.M. Eastern Time on Sunday, November 8, 2020. At this meeting all candidates running in contested races will have the opportunity to present to the women in attendance.
The MNOWC Annual General Meeting will be hosted virtually on Zoom, with an option to attend by phone.
Registration to attend the MNOWC Annual General Meeting is part of the registration to attend the 2020 MNO Annual General Assembly. To register for the MNOWC Annual General Meeting please visit this registration website, and click “Register Here”. You will then be sent information about joining the meeting on computer by Zoom or by telephone.
