As we mark Remembrance Day, let us honour those who have served so bravely in war and in peace.
Métis people have a strong tradition of military service. Our involvement in the defense of Canada began before there was a Canada, in the War of 1812. Métis have also served in both World Wars, the Korean Conflict, Afghanistan and in peacekeeping missions around the world.
Our MNO Veterans’ Council works with our citizens, and in particular our youth, to share their knowledge and experiences. We invite all MNO citizens and friends to join in supporting our Métis Veterans in this important work.
This November 11th, please take the time to thank our friends, neighbours, and all of our relations who have served – and who continue to serve – and show our love, support and gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice, not just with words but with actions throughout the year.
Lest we forget.
