A recent conference hosted by the Canadian Institute focused on Engaging and Negotiating with Aboriginal Communities.
One of the sessions was a panel discussion on consultation with Métis communities. MNO lawyer, Jason Madden represented MNO on the panel. His presentation focussed on the state of Métis rights law in Canada, considerations for governments and proponents on Métis consultation and an overview of the MNO’s consultation framework. The presentation is one part of the MNO’s ongoing work on the duty to consult and accommodate which is supported through the Government of Ontario New Relationship Fund.
A copy of his presentation and paper from the conference is available at right. For more information about the MNO’s consultation framework visit www.metisnation.org/consultations.
