Traditional Knowledge Sessions held in Fort Frances and KenoraKnowledge Holders meet in Kenora to discuss Métis Way of Life

In March, local Métis knowledge holders gathered in small groups in Fort Frances and Kenora to share stories and knowledge pertaining to the Métis “way of life”. The Sunset Country Métis Council and the Kenora Métis Council hosted the Fort Frances (
March 2nd) and Kenora (March 17th) sessions, respectively, in collaboration with the Lands, Resources and Consultations Branch.

These sessions provided a comfortable setting where memories and knowledge of the way of life could be shared, and both events enjoyed a lively recounting of the Métis experience.

Such gatherings are part of the MNO’s continuing effort to document, preserve and promote the way of life, and the contributions of the participants have added to the growing tapestry of the Métis story in Ontario.
