On October 5, 2016, Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Chair France Picotte made an appearance on The Agenda with Steve Paikin (the Agenda). Chair Picotte discussed Indigenous Peoples and the Great Lakes along with Isadore Day, Assembly of First Nations Ontario Regional Chief. The program aired on TVO at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and 11:00 p.m. (EST).
The Agenda examined why Indigenous leaders and communities need to be involved in discussions about the Great Lakes. This discussion came on the heels of the Great Lakes Public Forum 2016: Celebrating our Great Lakes, which took place October 4-6, 2016 in Toronto. The Public Forum provides an opportunity for the MNO to be a part of the dialogue on Great Lakes priorities and those important to Indigenous peoples.
