The Métis Nation of Ontario’s youth Council (MNOYC) is hosting its third annual Youth Leadership Conference on Wednesday August 21 and Thursday, August 22 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. As part of the Youth Leadership Conference, attendees are also invited to stay for the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Annual General Assembly (AGA) taking place from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25.
Youth will travel to Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday, August 20, where they will attend the Youth Meet & Greet and Registration event. Youth will have the option to return after the Youth Leadership conference on Friday, August 23 or after the AGA on Sunday, August 25.
Youth in attendance for the Youth Leadership Conference will be one or more of the following:
- A member of the MNO Youth Council
- An MNO Summer Youth Program (SYP) Staff Member
- An MNO Infinite Reach Facilitator
- A Youth Representative on a MNO chartered community council OR a Youth Representative that have been nominated by their Community Council President
- A Youth Representative from another Métis Nation governing body within Canada
- We will also be extending the offer of attendance to the Métis youth who are active within their communities as well
Interested youth must fill out the application form through the following link no later than Friday, June 14:
Please note: This year we are accepting applications from Métis youth who are between the ages of 16-29 years old. Youth who are 16 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a chaperone who is either their parent or legal guardian. Chaperones will be provided with travel costs to the event and will share accommodations with the youth participant. Meals and incidentals will be at their own cost.
Spaces are limited. Travel and accommodation expenses for youth attendees are being covered by the Métis Nation of Ontario, as are meals and incidental per diem.
